Who are DriveRight?
We are one of New Zealand's leading mechanical breakdown insurers. We also offer a range of other financial insurance products including GAP (Auto Equity Insurance), Payment Protection Insurance and Commitment Cover Insurance. DriveRight is a part of IAG, New Zealand's largest general insurer.
If I buy a policy can I get my money back if I cancel?
If a policy is cancelled shortly after commencement, you may be eligible for all or most of your money back. Similarly, if a Policy requires cancellation mid term, it may be possible to obtain a refund of a portion of the premium.

Warranty
What is the most important thing to remember with a warranty claim?
In all instances, phone us before authorising the commencement of any repairs to your vehicle. Get our permission first.
Can I use a repairer of my choice?
Yes, so long as they are GST registered, have Public Liability Insurance and there is an industry-qualified automotive technician employed by your chosen firm.
What are my obligations around the servicing of my car?
Petrol vehicles covered by the policy must be serviced no later than every 15,000km or 12 months (whichever event happens first) from the commencement date unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
Petrol turbo and diesel vehicles covered by this policy must be serviced at least every 10,000km or 12 months (whichever event happens first) from the Policy commencement date unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
Can I do my own servicing?
No. You must take your vehicle to an authorised motor vehicle servicer.

What is the most important thing to remember with a claim under these policies?
We prefer you contact us as soon as possible. Any undue delays may affect your claim. We will assist with guidance for the next steps.
Is there a stand-down period for the benefits of the Payment Protection Insurance, Commitment Cover Insurance and GAP policies?
Claims can be formally lodged for these benefits after the respective period of time;
